I just bought an olympus Stylus Tough 8000.  Woohoo.  It's waterproof/cold proof/shock proof, so now I can take it snowboarding/kayaking/snorkeling and hopefully get some photos of some of the cool things I've missed out on because I was too scared to bring my SLR to places like that.  :D

Road Trippin

I decided to go on a road trip a couple of weekends ago out into the desert.  I drove from LA out to baker, then went north from there towards death valley.  I wasn't really sure what was out there, but since I had never been out that way I decided it would be a good trip.  I stopped at "salt creek" and went for a nice hike around there.  There's a spring there, and also a bunch of old mines up in the canyon behind it.  Apparently there were several indian attacks on the miners back in the 1800's.  Being trapped out in the desert with no help must've been terrifying.  Took a bunch of photos, then hiked back to my car and drove down the road s

So I did my first international distance triathlon yesterday.  I'm really glad I decided to do it, and had alot of fun, but it was pretty painful lol.  I can tell the difference between the people that do this distance vs the shorter "sprint" distance ones.  Everyone is much faster than me, lol. The swim: 3/4 of a mile.  One lady asked me where we were supposed to swim to and I pointed to a buoy waaaay off on the other side of the lake.  We both remarked, that looks like alot further than 3/4 of a mile!  Maybe it's floating away!   During the swim I would periodically stop to see if I was still headed in the right direction.  We were swimmi
